Russian World TV was born
in Russia and later «emigrated» to the United States. Unlike most
emigrants, this one knew from the very beginning that it would leave its
home country for a new home. Its parents designated their child for life
abroad, notably in America.
The Russian World brand is
owned by VKT-R(Russia). The following companies are the founders and
shareholders of VKT-R:

VKT Enterprises —
Founded in 1989, VKT Enterprises was a groundbreaker in the field of
television and video production in the early 90’s, when Russia was just
starting its long and painstaking journey to market economy. Its
three-letter acronym is deciphered as «Video, Kino, Televideniye», which
means «Video, Cinema, Television».
VKT’s diversified operations
include the production and distribution of television programming;
television, satellite and cable broadcasting; production and
distribution of promotional and advertising products and services;
distribution of motion pictures; creation and development of a network
of onsite screen panels that are placed in Moscow supermarkets and
grocery stores and carry information and advertising.

Networks (RTRS) — a governmental agency, the owner of a network of
transmitting and retransmitting facilities, both radio and TV, on the
territory of Russia, including the Ostankino TV tower in Moscow, one of
the world’s tallest structures.

VKT-R has concluded a
series of agreements with Russian TV channels and other program-producing
entities. As a result, Russian World TV has the ability to offer its
viewers a unique product, composed of the best programs from different
sources.
Using its distinctive
programming leverage and its financial strength, Russian World TV arrived
in America in 2002 as a 24/7, full-scale channel with a rich, diverse
programming tailored to the needs of the Russian-American community.
Transmitted from Moscow, Russia via a satellite “Express 3A” RW’s signal
is picked up at downlink location by Crawford Communications, Inc. in
Atlanta, Georgia. From there, the signal is passed on to OlympuSAT, Inc.,
a West Palm Beach, Florida-based affiliate of Ocean Communications, which
uplinks and distributes RW along with more than a dozen other television
networks. The OlympuSAT suite is distributed via Loral Skynet's Telstar 7.
Russian World TV gives
viewers in America an unparalleled chance to see the best of Russian
television shortly after it has appeared on the TV screen in Russia. This
creme de la creme of Russian-made programming includes top-notch
newscasts, popular talk and game shows, the best of educational and
children’s programs, entertainment, sports, travel, and other TV programs
as well as new and classical feature movies, documentaries, and cartoons.
You can get a glimpse of the channel’s comprehensive programming on this
website. This programming, which can satisfy any viewer, regardless of age
and scope of interests, will soon be supplemented by locally produced news
and other programs dedicated to the life of the 3-million-strong
Russian-American community.
Additionally, Russian World
TV is considering plans to include English-language segments in its
programming grid in order to attract a sizeable, «mainstream» audience,
which includes descendents of Russian emigres, people who are interested
in the world-famous Russian culture, students of Russian, individuals who
deal with Russia in one or another capacity, et al.
Russian World TV is
becoming increasingly available to viewers in different parts of America
as it is launched full-scale in parts of New York City, Miami-Dade County,
and other Russian-populated areas through local cable networks.
In Washington, DC and
suburban Maryland and Virginia communities, local Russian-speakers can see
RW news, programs and motion pictures on MHz Networks, a broadcast
channel, daily from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and every Thursday from 8:00 pm to
10:00 pm., with English subtitles.
Russian World TV is confident of its ability to become the Russian channel
of choice in the Western Hemisphere.
